Policy Connect ("we", "us", "our"), a division of MRM Media and MRM Family Holdings Ltd., is a Canadian corporation that connects individuals with licensed life insurance providers to obtain personalized quotes. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and applicable provincial privacy laws.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect your personal information when you visit policyconnect.ca or submit information through our quote request form.
We collect only the personal information necessary to provide our service, including:
We do not collect sensitive health information beyond basic smoking status, and we do not request or require medical exams.
Information is collected directly from you when you complete and submit the quote form. Technical and advertising data is collected automatically through cookies, tracking pixels, and URL parameters when you arrive at our website from an advertisement or other referring source.
We collect, use, and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:
By submitting the quote form, you provide express consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy. Consent is meaningful, informed, and voluntary. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us (see Section 11), subject to legal or contractual restrictions, and with notice that withdrawal may prevent us from providing quotes or services.
By submitting the quote request form, you expressly consent to receive commercial electronic messages and other communications from Policy Connect, MRM Media, MRM Family Holdings Ltd., their affiliates, and their licensed insurance and marketing partners, by telephone (including automated dialing), email, SMS or text message, or other electronic means.
These communications may relate to the specific insurance product you inquired about, and may also relate to other insurance, financial, or related products, services, offers, or promotions that we or our partners reasonably believe may be of interest to you. You acknowledge that this consent extends beyond your original quote request.
This consent is ongoing and remains in effect until you withdraw it. Your express consent under CASL also permits contact by telephone notwithstanding registration on Canada's National Do Not Call List (DNCL).
You may withdraw your consent and opt out of marketing communications at any time, at no cost, by any of the following methods:
We will give effect to any withdrawal of consent without delay, and in any event no later than ten (10) business days after receipt, as required under CASL. Withdrawal of marketing consent does not affect communications necessary to service an existing insurance application or policy, or communications we are required by law to send.
We share your information only with:
We do not sell your personal information.
Advertising identifiers. When you submit the quote form, we may transmit an irreversibly hashed (SHA-256) version of your email address and telephone number to advertising platforms including Meta and TikTok, solely to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to improve campaign targeting. These platforms receive the hashed values, not the underlying plain-text information. You may opt out of this processing by contacting us using the details in Section 11.
Transfers outside Canada. Some of our service providers, including analytics and advertising platforms, are located outside Canada or may store or process information outside Canada. Where this occurs, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful access requests by foreign courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities. We take reasonable steps to ensure that such providers maintain comparable protections through contractual and other means.
We retain your information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined or as required by law (typically up to 7 years for record-keeping obligations). After that, it is securely deleted or anonymized. Where you have opted out of marketing communications, we retain a minimal record of your opt-out for the purpose of honouring it.
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards, including HTTPS encryption, access controls, and secure storage with restricted access, to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
We rely on the accuracy of information you provide. You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information by contacting us. We will respond within 30 days (extendable under PIPEDA).
We use the following tracking technologies on policyconnect.ca:
These technologies may place cookies on your device and may receive hashed identifiers as described in Section 6. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. For details on how these providers handle data, see the respective privacy policies of Google, Meta, and TikTok.
